Iron-rich greens – Swiss Chard

Winter greens like Kale, Chard and seasonal lettuce are packed with nutrients like iron, potassium and calcium which build blood and can help people (especially women) feel more relaxed.   Swiss Chard is considered nutritional royalty because it contains a special phytonutrient called Syringic acid which has been proven to help regulate blood sugar.  But just like Spinach, chard contains a non beneficial acid called Oxalic  acid and it’s good to boil Chard for five minutes and discard the water to drain off the oxalic acid and give the chard a sweeter
